I have never done an online survey like this but this doesn't seem pointless to me like the ones on here or the daughter and friends find, so, here goes:

Not those types of acronnyms only the coast guard kind and only when those of us who actually know what they mean are around. Otherwise why bother to say it if others don't know what it means?

If I ever hear it it's young people, but most the ones I know either the daughter or her friends think those are shallow or to popular so they don't really think much of those.

I have not heard anyone actually speak those Internet acronyms,

Sometimes; I occasionally use commas or underline/italics for emphasis.

Only to show my tone of voice when saying something. For instance, if I ask a question, and the tone sounds more like a statement or like excitement, I will put a period or an exclamation mark just before the question mark.

No, not when speaking. When I write, I sometimes use abbreviations such as IM for instant message/messenger, BNS for Braille 'n Speak, etc.

Yes. Usually, it's girls around my age and younger and some younger guys also, and occasionally I've also heard adults older than me using them, but not as often as the younger people.

Some I've heard are bff, omg, bf, gf,.
Nice survey. A little hard to answer with only yes or no answers. Might be good to give a range of selections to choose from to better have an idea. I mean I've done some of these things, but some of them I do very rarely.

I have on rare ocasion. Usually it's to make fun of the acronyms themselves or people who use them, though I have said BRB in seriousness before.

Yes, and mostly teen girls.

With this question, do you mean acronyms I hear people using in their speech? I'll take it as that. Mostly I hear LOL, BRB, and OMG.
